It'aam Program

The Islamic Center of Hagerstown Meals for the homeless program (It’aam Program) packs 110 Meals for 110 homeless in Hagerstown, MD. 
No questions asked and free of charge. While all the doors are closed in the face of the homeless during the weekends, The Islamic Center of Hagerstown open its doors.  Our goal is to provide food to our neighbors who are in need. Our Muslim faith teaches us to take care of the hungry, sick, travelers, and the deprived. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry.”

Volunteer Positions

Shopping

A shopper will go to one of the grocery stores to pick the items we need for packing meals. dropping the items at the Masjid should be done by one hour (at least) before starting to prepare meals.

Preparing Meals

The main responsibility of this role is to prepare peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches and pack them along with snacks into brown bags.  Preparing meals starts around 12 :00pm to 1:30 pm. After you apply for volunteering at this role, we will let you now the start time precisely. 

Delivery

We need male volunteers to deliver the meals to one of the homeless shelters on Sundays after preparing meals.
